MANITOWOC – Kathy Sullivan Vandenberg will describe her journey to the unsanctioned priesthood for a woman in the Catholic Church at an engagement set for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25, at the Holiday Inn.
So I guess there is the priesthood of the faithful, ministerial priesthood, and the unsanctioned priesthood. The event for "priestess" Kathy Sullivan Vandenberg is being sponsored by Pax Christi.

Will there be cheese and crackers?
Pax Christi was not an official advocate for women priests last time I looked…Is this a new cause of theirs, or have they kept quiet about it, or is this just a particular Pax Christi group?
Yes, there will be cheese and crackers and plenty of WHINE to go with it.
I hope there is a pool. It can double as the baptismal font as well as provide much needed relaxation during the, oh I mean, after the “talk”.
Pax Christi, currently, has their tentacles in a lot of stuff outside of their original mission of peace at any price. It does not surprise me that they are involved.
Well, we’ll just have to get the Discalced Yooper on it.
I am not terribly surprised to see Pax Christi involved in this, but I think it was a decision by one local group.
My goodness. She is going to be within spitting distance of where I work. Time to fire up a friendly letter to the Bishop. I should probably go just to see the number of religious in attendance. (Just across the highway are the Franciscan Sisters of Charity. The Holiday Inn is where most events are handled here. It’s proximity to the Sisters is incidental.)
Sorry, here is the link:

Any relation to Andrew Sullivan?
MZ: Been there several times–have 2 clients in Manitowoc. Nice hotel; handy for M’woc Co HQ, no?
I’m not sure what M’twc Co does there, but we have had our Christmas Party there forever. For those out of the know, M’woc Co’s HQ is about a block down from there.
StubbleSpark, a “Discalced Yooper” is a person from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan who is not wearing shoes. (Like my father, who doesn’t need his snowshoes while he’s in Florida.) This is not to be confused with a “De-calcified Yooper”, which is a U.P. resident with osteoperosis.
“M’twc Co” seems to be a reference to a Wisconsin cult. It probably involves cheese. The “HQ” is either “headquarters” or “hottie quotient” – I think the latter, as there are many good-looking people from Wisconsin. I hope that helped.
Back to the article! I think this is one of the best phrases I’ve heard in a long time: “obtained an unsanctioned ordination in Pittsburgh last year”. It sounds like something from a police blotter… or a Dan Brown novel. I’m picturing the opening scene of a shadowy figure -perhaps an albino cowboy – striking a bishop over the head and absconding with his crozier. Then, in the next scene, the innocent heroine Katherine Sullivan Vanderberg (heir to the fortune of the richest family in St. Nazianz) is playing tourist in Pittsburgh when she is accosted by a turtleneck-wearing man who informs her that everything she ever knew about Catholicism is wrong and that she must be ordained immediately! She tries to escape, but he holds an unsanctioned ordination over her face until she loses consciousness… and when she wakes up, she’s a priestess.
Wow, Miss Jean! Ever consider becoming a novelist? A satirist? You’re good!
The largest fortune in St Nazianz is still actively invested in a herd of milk-cows.
Oh what wonderful theology Weakland left us with. How long will it take to undo the damage he did?
Thank you Vatican II
Once you defect from the teachings and truths and change teachings to “Modernize”-you open the floodgates
Just as Our parents never ever thought they would see communion standing up-in the hand-from a lay person-with an altar girl next to her-Our children will soon be exposed to priestesses and then Luther would finaly have accomplished what he set out for 500 years ago only it was at the hands of church from within
