Pope Benedict XVI and Greece’s Orthodox Church Archbishop Christodoulos
race to complete their entry in the first annual East/West Icon and Calligraphy contest.
A tense moment occurred later during the first East/West Dance. The Holy Father asked Archbishop Christodoulos to follow his lead. The Archbishop declined though he said he would consider him first among equals.

‘After beating the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Pope faces Last Year’s Champion, Archbishop Christodoulos in the ‘Battle of the Clerics’.’
And you know they’re fudging a little:
I I I I
will will will will
never never never never
make make make make
faces faces faces faces
in in in in
church church church church
again again again again
and so on for another 96 rows…..
Listen, Benny, I think I see a typo here. I think it’s “homoousis,” not “homousis”.
(Anyone who remembers the right Greek words about this patristic dispute is free to correct me.)
N 32….Ah one more and I have bingo..I wish they would call B 16..

This is really getting too funny…
His Holiness and the Patriarch get a head start on writing their Christmas “thank you notes”.
Checking the naughty/nice list before Christmas.
Vould you please tell Santa Claus I have been a goot Pope? …after completing a list that includes World Peace, True Redemption, Universal Brotherhood, crossed candy keys, and a catnip mouse for Chico.
The Pope is so willing to show his love and admiration to all of the Jewish rabbis and Orthodox schismatics and even prayed with Moslems in a Mosque to Mecca, but his meeting with SSPX is once every 10 years or whatever and in the dark of night..ohhhhhhh cant be seen with quite possibly the “True Catholics” who actually worship as we once did and refused to compromise the faith in order to be “Modern”
So sad
John, actually I have heard of quite of bit of stuff the Holy Father has been doing to try to bring SSPX back into full communion with the Church. The Holy Father is not trying to be “Modern” but is trying to witness to these people.
At least the Pope did not pray to Allah nor did he reject His Papacy.
I just noticed that the Archbishop’s and the Pope’s vestments make a nice contrast. Black and white. So, since the Pope and the Archbishop wore Black and white, Is there any ‘Ecclesiastical Chess’ event in the ‘Battle of the Clerics’?
