Since just when did the Washington Post start printing conversion stories? I guess when a Catholic converts to Islam. [Via Gerald] Exactly why is the conversion story of an aspiring and unknown rock musician worthy of the Post’s coverage. I don’t seem to recall similar stories of more well known people or the ones of rockers like Alice Coooper, Iron Maiden’s drummer Nicko McBrain, or Korn’s ex-guitarist Brian "Head" Welch. Oh maybe it was because they converted to Christianity and not Islam.
We won’t soon be reading conversion stories of Muslims turned Christians in Islam dominated countries. Those converts know they are heading for trouble or should I say beheading for trouble.

WOH! you mean nicko mcbrain is Christian?! WICKED!
Speaking of “beheading for trouble”, I thought I would check and see what Amnesty International is up to. The headlines say they intend to make “abortion rights” a major issue.
What have they got going now?
“Stop violence against women.” Admirable. But Sierra Leone is the only country mentioned. No mention of Islamic countries.
“Stop Torture.” Hmmmm. Only Guantanamo Bay is mentioned. They must have not seen the paper saying that torture now in Iraq by Iraqis against Iraqis, using not embarassment, but power drills, is on the upswing.
“The Death Penalty.” Interesting. Apparently Illinois is the only place in the world where it is a problem. They must have been busy lobbying the Illinois governor when the three Catholics were executed in Indonesia the other day.
“Child Soldiers.” That should be easy. What’s their priority? I guess it is Russia! Africa must be off limits to them for this issue.
I can’t go on. The hypocrisy of Amnesty International is sameful.
I read that Dave Mustaine has also converted to Christianity.
Dave Mustaine?! O_O Wow, that is a shocker if it is true. I do admire him because he is a reformed alcoholic (in fact I think all the members of Megadeth were), but I always saw him as a flaming liberal back in the Clinton years.
The rocker that I have targeted with my prayers is Henry Rollins. He is quite the thinker. If that guy were Catholic, he would be like a Saint Paul. Unfortunately he has really supported gay rights and has begun to take himself way too seriously and is sliding down the slippery slope of relativism.
Another conversion(s) story you won’t read in the mainstream news media: Over the last year 6 of American Protestant’s leading young theologians have converted to the Catholic Church. The Protestant publication Christian Century had an article on the 6–its tone was one of being in a state of shock, especially since many more seem to be in the works. It made a great sermon to go with one of the readings.
