NAIROBI, Kenya Sister Leonella, a nun who devoted her life to helping the sick in volatile regions of Africa, used to joke that there was a bullet with her name engraved on it in Somalia. When the bullet came, she used her last breaths to forgive those responsible.
"
I forgive, I forgive," she whispered in her native Italian just before she died, the Rev. Maloba Wesonga told The Associated Press at the nun’s memorial mass in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, on Monday.

GetReligion also reports that she had a bodyguard who was also slain. The story doesn’t mention how long she has had a bodyguard, but considering that she was serving in Mogadishu it was probably not a new assignment. You just normally don’t associate nuns with bodyguards, though maybe kevlar habits might be a good idea during this time. Put on the whole body armour of God or something like that. In another story I found that her bodyguard’s name was Mohammed Mahmoud who was 50, so please send some prayers his way and for his family.

Amen. Thank you for posting her dying words. A truly good woman.
Santo subito!
Santo subito as well!
Santa subito!
She may have a case for sainthood as she was probably killed out of odium fidei (hate of the faith).
Please pray for all the good people she was serving!
