Diogenes made me laugh with this:
The Leadership Conference of Women Religious is serious about social justice. During the past 5 years LCWR has issued statements on immigration and the death penalty and racism and debt relief and water usage and nonviolence and the Millenium Development Goals and the Earth Charter and Walmart and fair trade and…
What’s that? You say something’s missing from that list?
Oh, right; that issue. Here you go.

Haha! Thanks for sharing that.
I wanted to leave a message on the website asking these ladies if they have any idea how ridiculous this is but then, sadly, I already know the answer. So I prayed to Mother Teresa for them instead. If she had enough nerve to speak out against abortion in front of Bill & Hilary at the Nat’l Prayer Breakfast in ’94, I know she’ll pray for ‘nuns’ who advocate recycling for printers before they advocate for an end to killing kids before they’re born.
Bwahahahahahaha!
Well, if you don’t buy recycled ink cartridges, then I guess yer goin’ to Hell. Then again, do these kinds of people believe in Hell.
And here I thought the shrill, Pacifica Radio-esque nonsense I’ve seen on Thinking Anglicans took the cake. Thanks!
And they wonder why they become more and more irrelevant…maybe this would be a nice epilogue for that nunsensical “Double Crossed” book recentlu out.
They’ve definitely got their priorities straight!
I bet most of them don’t wear habits or identifying clothing to mark them as nuns. They probably have big labyrinth walks during their conventions and begin with invocations to Mother Earth.
Can you say “neo-Pagan” ?
Religious that get much too involved in politics of the day are irrelevant to their vocations – unless they entered the Order of Womyn’s Spirituality and Global Recycling.
Does anybody pray anymore?
I did some looking around their lovely little site.. Those nuns have some rather *cough* interesting pictures.. http://www.lcwr.org/lcwrannualassembly/assembliesoverview.htm
I wonder if they’re wondering why people my age (that’d be college-aged) don’t just shy away from orders like theirs but turn on their heels and run from them..
This site is such a treasure…and this little gem is a perfect example of why it is. Far better to laugh than cry about the insanity that has infected the “womyn religious.” I thank God every day for REAL nuns (you know, the ones who wear habits, adore the Eucharist, and live for God, usually in enclosure — like the Discalced Carmelites, Poor Claires, most of the Passionist Nuns, and Cistercians). I think every time the LCWR makes some new inane pronouncement, the faithful should counter by making a donation to a cloistered order…On second thought, that could pitch a person into bankruptcy in no time.
