When I saw the The National Catholic Reporter’s piece yesterday called "Spin without end in abuse scandal" which was a response to an ad by the Catholic League I thought the title to be pretty ironic considering the heavy spin of their article. I knew Gerald would be quite capable of evaluating NCR’s spin since he has done yeoman’s work in evaluating and displaying the data from the John Jay study on the subject. He does not disappoint and shows the contrast between the raw data from the report compared to the very cherry-picked data NCR used. He also makes some good distinctions and I believe clearly shows that it is the NCR which is involved in spin control.
