SomeRad Trads prove to be nuttier than a fruitcake. Matt C. Abbot reports on the allegation from a writer at Tradition in Action who suggests based on photos that Sister Lucy of Fatima fame was bumped off and replaced by an impostor is pretty funny or at least would be if it was parody. I wonder if he thinks it was an albino monk that carried it out?

I’ve heard this before. Pretty whacked. I used to get materials from one popular Fatima group who claimed that the “third secret” released by Pope JPII was a forgery. They made this claim BEFORE it was even released. Prophetic group, no doubt. Fortunately, they can go on with their lucrative “mission” of bringing the truth of Fatima to light.
Oh, and Sister Lucia (the real one?) didn’t reveal the fraud out of obedience – which is something that they don’t have much use for.
Haven’t Radtrad groups also claimed that Paul VI was replaced by an imposter too?
CRIKEY! I have heard from my RadTrad associates that they hid Sr. Lucia away in a remote convent and wouldn’t let her talk, but I hadn’t heard this one. It’s astonishing what people will accuse others of with absolutely no evidence.
I went to that site some time ago, but I recall from the comments that the magazine in question had simply printed the wrong picture with a caption that identified the nun as Sr. Lucy. Someone familiar with the convent knew of and identified the nun. Much ado about nothing, I’d say!
It’s true that RadTrad’s discuss Paul VI having an actor as an imposter. One wise blogger has even noticed an uncanny resemblance between Paul VI and Bob Newhart…
Oh, someone sent me a set of photos that was supposed to prove that Sr Lucy had been switched with an imposter. I studied the photos and it looked like the same person to me, except that her teeth had been fixed. Sometimes extensive dental work changes the shape of the jaw. It was obvious that the old Carmelite nun had dentures!
Well, on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, I attended an approved Indult Tridentine Mass, where during the Homily I read a really old preist rail on and on against the “new church.”
Among his accusations? He claimed that Sr. Lucia had called the current Vatican leadership “diabolic.”
I doubt that.
He also claimed that the new lectionary replaces “Full of Grace” with “Oh highly favored daughter”, which it clearly doesn’t. The NAB perhaps, but the lectionary quite clearly retains “full of grace.”
Sad that I had to hear this, and at an indult Mass no less.

And actually, Matt doesn’t make the claim, he reports what someone has claimed. And, something like 65 percent of the article is actually a smackdown of said claim by John Grasmeier.
