Still don’t get it. Is something lost in translation?
Can you come up with a more subtle one? How about just the hare with no words? A make the hare about the size of the alligator on the old LaCoste shirts. I’d actually buy one and wear it playing golf.

For those who still don’t get it, there’s a penetential custom of wearing a shirt made of hair close to the skin, so it irritates the skin. Horse hair is generally used, because it’s very stiff and therefore more irritating.
Jeff is making a pun on ‘hare’ (the rabbit-type creature) and ‘hair’ (the thing that grows on mammals). With his shirts, one can wear a ‘hair’ shirt without any actual penance.

I just ordered one! It’s not that I need one, because I am already very, very humble and pure, but I got it to remind everyone else how much they need pennance.
This is too funny, I was just trying to explain a real hair shirt to someone who thought I was nuts. I love having pun, so I need to get this one.
