Thomas A. Szyszkiewicz has a detailed post on Catholic hospitals and emergency contraception on his blog that originally appeared in the November issue of Catholic World Report (this is his original version, not the final printed copy).
Morally problematic

Regarding the final comment of the article, I know of a doctor that was professionally ridiculed and finally fired (it certainly wasn’t by “choice”) due to his unwillingness to prescribe contraception at a Catholic hospital and poor clinics. He actually chose his job to work with the poor, whom he saw have many complications with their contraception. Despite his attempts at educating his peers with NFP and effects of contraception, his environment was very difficult. The frustrating part was that the normally highly respected bishop couldn’t/didn’t do anything about this hospital which I believe is directly tied to the archdiocese.
He has now started his own practice, which is tough work and extremely expensive. I’m hoping local parishes can help out. Please pray for him and other doctors in his position. They really need St. Michael the Archangel to intercede for them.
