AMDG posts on a chapter of Voice of the Faithful in St Louis being in solidarity with the Rev. Bozek and the board of St. Stanislaus which has recently been declared to be in schism by Archbishop Burke. VOTF’s mask of fidelity to the Church was never fastened very securely, but it now seems to be slipping even more. They say that their mission is to support priests of integrity and then support a priest who has just been excommunicated. I guess my definition of integrity doesn’t match theirs. Obviously they support lay investiture even when it is a schismatic act.
They end their letter of support by saying.
We hope that all Catholics in the archdiocese will honor Rev. Bozek and his new parish by joining them for 10 p.m. Mass on Christmas Eve.
Oh great come on down and commit a mortal sin for Christmas Eve. That surely we please our savior. As Archbishop Burke said:
The faithful who approach a schismatic priest for the reception of the sacraments, except in the case of danger of death, commit a mortal sin.
Being that this is Christmas here is the hymn Adeste Infidelis I wrote for them before.
O Come, Voice of the Faithful,
Boastful and defiant,
O come ye dissidents to Boston, Mass
Come now and scold him
Scorn the resigned Cardinal
O come, let us exploit it,
O come, let us exploit it,
O come, let us exploit it,
the situation
Sing, litigation,
All ye choirs of attorneys;
O sing, lay investiture that old heresy
Glory to the Globe-
For their many stories!
O come, let us exploit it,
O come, let us exploit it,
O come, let us exploit it,
the situation
Attacking celibacy
We give you this warning
Married or priestesses is our solution,
Begone now father
Schisms fresh appearing
O come, let us exploit it,
O come, let us exploit it,
O come, let us exploit it,
the situation

If I can forward this to St Stan’s, maybe they can get it in the Christmas Vigil Mass Program before this weekend…Surely they would enjoy it?
Better yet, maybe if it were translated into Latin?
It’s funny, yet it’s sad, because it’s true.
Truly a masterpiece…wouldn’t be surprised if some Churches will be singing that this Christmas…keep em’ coming! Maybe a “Richard McBrien is coming to town” next?
Jeff, I think you just wrote St. Stan’s new Introit. LMAO still!
Oh, and to Fr. Sistare – hi neighbor. Your former parish (St. Leo’s) is almost walking distance from my home.

Adeste Infidelis
I had not realized that The Curt Jester was not only a talented literary artist but also quite an accomplished poet. Check out his original Christmas verse dedicated to Voice of the (not so) Faithful.
…
That… is quite possibly the funniest thing I have ever seen.
Jeff,
You have, once again, outdone yourself! Will the wonders ever cease?
I agree with your assessment of VOF as they are a liberal bent organization, but maybe they should be “excommunicated” as well as they are clearly against church teachings, as are hundreds of thousands including so called Catholic spokseman Andrew Greeley and Hans Kung who was the darling of the church in the 60’s and 70’s till he questioned Pope JPII and his stature as Pope and infallibility, but was greeted and even had dinner with Pope B16
Mixed signals are not what is needed for the church by her leaders, as a parent should not give to our children nor should one who is responsible for 1Billion souls
Classic!
Nothing wrong with married clergy though 🙂 It’s just being sullied by always being mentioned in the same breath with priestesses.
This is too funny! However, as Seeker said, it’s also sad. We should not forget about praying for Archbishop Burke and the people in his diocese in this Christmas season.
Would going to Midnight Mass at this church really be a mortal sin?
Schism is such a funny word to throw around, and for that matter that would be saying that those who profess to abide by church teachings before the changes of Vatican II are all in mortal sin, the 2 or 3 million all. All they are doing is worshipping as Catholics did for a 1000 years or so, and want to “hold to tradition”.
Then on the other side when you hear their side, as I have much family in the traditional roost, just by the actions of the church of Vatican II, it is they who are schismatic and even heretical, and one of my uncles even sent me a list of over 100 actions and proclamations of JPII which were deemed “heretical” by concils and past teachings, and hence is questionable as Pope
There is two sideds to every story, and I think the Vatican needs to get a grip on who they decide is heretical, as my mother says, those in glass houses should not throw stones
Schism didn’t begin in America with the confusion of Vatican II and its exploiters. The American church has been a concern to the Vatican since the 19th century, and for the reasons at issue in the present case in St. Louis. Trusteeism was the genesis of the do-it-yourself modernist liturgy and catechesis which Pope Leo XIII condemned in Testem Benevolentiae Nostrae (http://www.ewtn.com/library/PAPALDOC/L13TESTE.HTM), the only encyclical aimed specifically at the U.S., and one of which I wager 95% of American Catholics have never even heard.
There have always been false teachers and weak shepherds willing to look the other way.
Great carol. 🙂
It did not begin with Vatican II , but Vatican II put the stamp on Modernism after centuries of it being condemned
The key issue here is that parishioners hiring and firing their own pastors is completely irreconciliable with the apostolic nature of the Church–it’s Congregationalism pure and simple, as someone else noted.
I think concern over being portrayed as materialistic has made the bishop’s defenders excessively timid in confronting the material questions involved, beginning with the care and feeding of parish pastors. If the money to pay the pastors comes from trustees, the pastor can be expected to answer to the trustees, not to the Church. This is not to say parishes don’t have a right to their own funds, but that parish expenses cannot be administered without episcopal oversight (which is, after all, what episcopi do–they oversee).
