SAN BRUNO, Calif. – A woman who used a butcher knife to beat a Jehovah’s Witness who knocked on her door on Christmas Day was sentenced to three months in jail.
Cathy Infusino, 52, was also ordered Thursday to spend three months in a work program and serve three years of probation. She pleaded no contest to assault with a deadly weapon.
Infusino was paranoid and was being harassed by neighbors at the time of the attack, said her lawyer LeRue Grim.
"She wasn’t mentally well enough to understand the situation," Grim said. "She thought someone was trying to harm her or hurt her."
The Jehovah’s Witness had shown up at Infusino’s apartment by mistake and was looking for a neighbor who was interested in the religion. She apologized for the error and tried to leave, but Infusino grabbed her by the hair and pulled her into the apartment.
Grim said Infusino is taking medication now and seeing a psychiatrist regularly. [Souce]

I’m guessing that in California the judge sets the sentence in a felony case?
But who of us has not been tempted to do likewise?
I wonder what happens when a Jehovah’s Witness knocks on the door of a Mormon missionary or vice-versa.
Wow. No kidding Richtsteig? I guess anyone expecting someone like yourself to take the high road would end being disappointed, huh? I mean, why don’t you just find this violent woman and give her a pat her on the back?
That kind of behavior should never be condoned.
“I guess anyone expecting someone like yourself to take the high road would end being disappointed, huh?”
Because he confessed to a temptation?
“I mean, why don’t you just find this violent woman and give her a pat her on the back?”
Why? Because she succumbed to temptation? Do you have some reason to think the good father pats folks on the back for succumbing?
“That kind of behavior should never be condoned.”
Good thing no one has condoned it!!!
I really don’t know which is worse, an illiterate populace, or a semi-literate one.
Wow SL, great way to address *Father* Richtsteig. I guess it is wrong to have a sense of humor?
Jehovah’s Witnesses are wolves in sheep’s clothing.Danny Haszard EX Jehovah’s Witness
Just smile and take the magazine, then throw it in the trash. Every one you take is one less for the J.W’s to give out to those who might be swayed by the publication.
No. I certainly do not have a sense of humor when it comes to violence.
And as far as the person talking about respect, well, respect is not automatically given, it must be earned. And someone making a comment that SEEMS to condone violence has not yet earned it. Oh well, I guess those of you who blindly give respect to a ‘title’ will have to just deal with the fact that some people have minds and think for themselves.
SL, too bad what you did wasn’t thinking.
Also, no one here (BESIDES SL) has talked about respect.
Now what was I saying about the semi-literate?
When I used the word ‘respect’, I was referring to the statement made about how to address a person with the title of ‘father’.
As for the rest of it, it’s kind of hard to argue (for lack of a better word) with someone who resorts to juvenile name-calling rather than engaging in an adult exchange of opinions so I guess I’ll just move on to a more grown-up forum. Buh-bye.
SL,
I tried that in my first response. It didn’t have any effect, so I moved on to another tack. I guess next time I’ll try being a self-righteous prig lacking in charity. You do seem to understand that much, at least.
How about inviting the JW in and using the opportunity to Evangelize with the Truth? Sure, they are programmed to resist it, but we don’t know what sort of seeds we might plant!
If only our Catholics were as knowledgeable of our faith (and as zealous to share it) as JWs are of theirs!
I suggest Pillar of Fire Pillar of Truth – a great little hand-me-out for Mormons, JWs, and anyone else who might want to know about the Catholic faith (which is everybody!)
and what do you think about “a
