Infer that people who voted for you and are less than enthused by the Miers pick as elitists because because she’s from outside what he calls the "judicial monastery." Excuse me? Why is it that the Democrats can use every delaying tactic and the most extreme rhetoric with no response from the President, yet some of the base disagree with a judicial nominee and they are just snobs and elitists.

The Curt Jester On How Not To Shore Up The Base
Jeff Miller at The Curt Jester raises a question about the President’s treatment of conservatives that I have often wondered about myself: How not to shore up the base
Don’t confuse the defensive, off-the-cuff remarks of a not-very-smart spokesperson for those of the President.
I feel that the remarks of some who are upset that their precious legal society was passed over for this pick have the appearance, if not the substance of elitism.
The “judicial monastery” comment came from the President and not his spokesman.
That so-called “precious legal society” has been doing the heavy lifting against the judicial left for over 20 years – dating back to the days when Dubya’s “precious” personal lawyer was contributing to pro-abortion Democrats – all the while suffering the slings and arrows of the Miers ABA types for their efforts.
If you knew anything about what the Federalist Society actually does and what it stands for, you’d understand why many conservatives are rightfully upset at the nomination of someone who is so outright hostile and dismissive of the contributions of that “precious legal society”.
Well to be fair Jay when she gave money to people like Al Gore, Al Gore was still pro-life.
Though I do find her reported hostility towards the Federalist Society to be worrisome. At least she tried to reform the ABA’s abortion position.
If you knew anything about what the Federalist Society
There’s that appearance of elitism again…
Your right Jeff, the President did say that, not his spokesperson. My bad.
But in defense of the President, a *lot* of the people criticizing the President are attacking him for the sins of his father and the sins of others. He doesn’t deserve that.

There’s the appearance of someone needing to look up the definitions of both “appearance” and “elitism”.
At least she tried to reform the ABA’s abortion position.
And that’s more evidence for her being pro-life than we had for Roberts…whom everybody loves.

For the record, I never jumped on the Roberts bandwagon, and still have my doubts as to whether he is as judicially conservative as the Chief Justice he replaced.
In fact, I’m very disappointed and disillusioned by the fact that Dubya chose to appoint 2 stealth nominees when Supreme Court vacancies arose. But at least Roberts had some claim to being qualified for the job.
I thought the Roberts nomination was the FIRST slap in the face to the pro-lifers who elected the president, me among them.
Ummmnnnnhhhh….
Now it comes to pass that those who object to Meirs’ nomination are branded as ‘sexist’ by Laura Bush.
Hmmm. Seems that Ms. Bush was the one who TOLD GWB that the next nominee should be a woman.
Sexism goes both ways, Teach!
