I think we can file this right next to the toast with the image of the Blessed Virgin, and the hot cocoa cup with the image of the Holy Family in it.
Its motto should be that when you sin you break Jesus’s Heart, and then you are only left with a pile of mashed potato!
I’m waiting for the L O_ E to show up in the tater patch to finish out the word. ( You’re 15 minutes of fame is up) sheeeeeesh…..
and what will this look like when it sprouts eyes?
It looks more like Mr Potato Head, I mean heart!
I’m betting on a new cartoon that will rival Sponge Bob Square Pants. “Sweet Hairy Heart the optimistic Tater.”
“[I]t came to us we feel as an answer to a pray.”
Domine Bone, if the best the all-powerful Creator of the Universe can do is to communicate to me through garden vegetables, maybe I need to start looking for a new God! It reminds me of a friend of my wife, who was wont to divine the will of God by randomly turning the channels of her radio; the lyrics of the song to which she happened to tune told her of God’s will. Domine Bone, if the best the all-powerful Creator of the Universe can do is to communicate to me through Alanis Morissette, maybe I need to start looking for a new God!
Whenever I read of fellow Catholics who see Jesus in potatos, Mary in toast (or would that be Marian Toast?), sides of buildings, Joseph in soup, etc., etc., I always get a cringe. No doubt they are passionate and faithful… but it always makes me feel like it’s the weird aunt or uncle of the family. You love them, but you just don’t want them to get out of doors too much.
Teresa’s right – it’s all devotion, but keep an eye on them all the same. I must say, however, that if I really thought that Almighty God had sent me a personal message by way of a sweet potato, I wouldn’t be selling the Sacred Spud on eBay.
And there you go Elinor! That’s just it. Sometimes we do get little things that make us look up to our maker. And those little things are just for us. Not to sell on e-bay and then have the rest of the world think you’re a pin head, when all God was trying to say was, Hello I love you.
