Voting has started for the 2005 Catholic Blog Awards. Thanks to those who nominated me and/or voted for my blogs or blogs that I participate in. This blog is under both Most Humorous and Most Creative and my Moloch Now parody blog is under most bizarre. Catholics in the Public Square is also under Best Group Blog and this is due mainly to the efforts of my fellow editors there.
The great thing about St. Blogs are the number of truly excellent Catholic blogs. Five nominations per category doesn’t really cover the depth of St. Blogs so I will take this opportunity to highlight the best of the un-nominated blogs. I consider all blogs on my blog roll to be excellent, but the following could easily have been nominated.
- Ad Limina Apostolorum
- After Abortion
- Catholics for President George W. Bush
- Credibility
- Crowhill.net
- Does This Offend You?
- Dyspeptic Mutterings
- Erik’s Rants and Recipes
- Et Cetera
- Eve Tushnet
- Extreme Catholic
- Fides, Cogitatio, Actio
- Fructus Ventris
- Gen X Revert
- Ignatius Insight Scoop
- Matthew 12:37
- My Domestic Church
- Quenta Nârwenion
- Santificarnos
- SoDakMonk
- The Blog From the Core
- The Fifth Column
- The Pope Blog
- Two Sleepy Mommies
- Video meliora, proboque; Deteriora sequor
- What a Mystery!
So you can see by this list that if these blogs didn’t make the cut you can see the depths of what is available in St. Blogs.
Since the Pontificator who is not yet Catholic (but might be moving in that direction) got nominated to the Catholic Blog Awards I would nominate Dawn Eden as an honorary Catholic. She has a better understanding of contraception and abortion than many Catholics and so it is no surprise that she is on the blogroll of many Catholic blogs.
So please vote your conscience and make sure your conscience is correctly formed as to what constitutes humor and creativity. If you live in Washington State vote for me as many times as you vote for your own candidates there. Since I believe in the resurrection of the dead and the Communion of Saints I also have no problems with dead people voting.

I nominated you in a couple and voted for you in all categories and will do so as often as my IP address changes! 🙂
Thanks for the link and the kind words!

Hey thanks for the notice Jeff. You’re a class act.
I voted for Moloch too since he is such a handsome devil!!!
I second your nomination of Dawn Eden as an “honorary” Catholic. I orginally listed The Dawn Patrol as a “Catholic” weblog in my blogroll and was startled to learn that she isn’t one.
I’m disappointed that once again Eve Tushnet received no nominations. I suppose her mind is just too lively and wide-ranging for her writing to fit neatly in any category.
Thanks for the plug! There’s always next year…
But, I’ve voted for your site in various categories with two of my three IPs… and it looks like you’re winning in “Most Creative” and right up there in “Most Humorous”!
Best of luck this election year 😉
Thanks, Jeff!
Thanks kindly, Jeff!
Why Eve Tushnet keeps getting overlooked baffles me.
Speaking of overlooked–David Morrison’s Sed Contra is also positively unjust.
Dale,
I had thought that David Morrison’s Sed Contra was nominated, but I was mistaken or else I would have added it to my should have been nominated list.
Jeff:
Oh, no problem–I thought it had been nominated, too. But after I double-checked it, it appears he was overlooked again.
And, is it just me, or is there a whiff of ballot-box stuffing this year?
