Police responding to a Bangor alarm at 11:18 p.m. Friday found an intoxicated Indian Island man who was out on bail rummaging through a cabinet at Beth El Congregation Synagogue on French Street.
When challenged, Shelden Snell, 33, told officers that he worked there and was getting ready for tomorrow’s Mass. He said he believed that he was in a Catholic church, according to police reports.
In Snell’s shirt pocket, officers found Jewish jewelry worth $145, with price tags still attached, and a 5 mg half tablet of Oxycodone.
A large rock had been thrown through the bathroom window. There was $150 of damage done to the window and a door. [Source]
