Sharon Stone blames US President George W Bush for the absence of a lesbian kissing scene in Catwoman – because of the current conservative climate in America.
Basic Instinct star Stone, 46, was keen to enjoy an intimate moment with Oscar-winning co-star Halle Berry, but believes a puritanical streak running through the country put an end to any potential girl-on-girl action.
Stone says: "Halle’s so beautiful and I wanted to kiss her. I said, ‘How can you have us in the movie and not have us kiss? That’s such a waste.’
"That’s what you get for having George Bush as president." [Source]
Fr. Shane Tharp already summed up my intention of seeing this movie, but I guess it could have been even worse.
I have NO intention of seeing "Catwoman." There aren’t enough letters in the word "NO" to describe the no-ness of this proposition.
So the logic here is that President Bush can control a kiss in a “B” movie but not stop a polemic like Michael Moore’s movie. That it wasn’t the public reactions to Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction, but instead the views of one man. That an FCC commissioner, who is not exactly a conservative, has been cracking down on the airwaves is a reaction only to the preferences of the President. I guess when you live in a sexocracy like Hollywood for too long you believe that everybody is ruled by sex. She gives no reason why a lesbian kiss would advance the plot or develop any characters, instead it all about her and what she wanted to do. If they had wanted to do this nobody would have stopped them in their self-indulgence. Perhaps even less people would have gone to see this movie as a result, but hey that would be George Bush’s fault and not the sensibilities of most of the American movie going public.

Don’t worry, you won’t be missing much. DH saw a small part of it and said that it was the worst thing he’d said in a while. Nothing could have saved it- and Sharon Stone can’t save face by implying that it wasn’t good because of Bush.
George Bush is personally responsible for a lack of a lesbian scene in a movie. I’m continually amazed (though shouldn’t be by now) by the logic of these great americans – entertainers.
Did you know that George Bush is also responsible for lightning.
George Bush is responsible for the fly in my soup.
When I stub my toe – I hold George Bush responsible.
Come on.
Memo to Miz Stone:
Oh honey, puuuuleeeeeeeeeeze! Gag me with a spoon!
Uh, Sharon, if you wanted to kiss Halle, what was stopping you? Are you saying you can only pucker up if it’s being filmed? And this is GW’s fault?
Save your money. Sharon hasn’t made a decent movie since…uh…
Your analysis of the ‘sexocracy’ worldview makes even more sense if you take it a step further:
Whereas we schmos think that the ‘plot’ of a movie is the stuff that happens between (and, on rare occasion, gives meaning to) the sex; those who live in a sexocracy think that the sex is what happens between and gives meaning (and development) to lives of the characters in a movie. So, yes; Sharon Stone probably really does think that more sex would have advanced the plot of the movie.
Michael Moore should win the Nobel Peace Prize this year…hehehe
I’m just waiting for the headline “17-Year Cicadas Overrun Midwest: Kerry blames Bush”
Well in my book that’s another good reason to vote for him!!!
Ever since I read this, I’ve been trying to figure out what you call the citizens of a sexocracy (aside from ‘gravely disordered,’ of course) : Sexocrats? Sexists?
