You just can’t please anybody these days. Senator Specter who was opposed by most pro-life conservatives just can’t keep his friends happy enough.
WASHINGTON – A national abortion rights group whose Pennsylvania chapter backed Sen. Arlen Specter’s re-election six years ago on Tuesday called the Republican "emphatically not pro-choice" and said it is supporting his Democratic challenger.
Elizabeth Cavendish, interim president of NARAL Pro-choice America, said Specter’s votes to confirm conservative judicial nominees and to fund abstinence programs nullify his claim that he supports abortion rights.
Wow that is quite an admission by NARAL. Now even abstinence is against choice. What is the choice suppose to be – between abortion and abortion. Of course with abstinence programs abortion goes down and so does the power of their advocacy.
"It is critical that everyone here today, and everyone listening, understands that Arlen Specter is emphatically not pro-choice," Cavendish said at a Philadelphia event announcing the group’s endorsement of Democratic challenger Rep. Joe Hoeffel. "His record belies any claim that he is pro-choice."
The Pennsylvania chapter of NARAL endorsed Specter during his 1998 GOP primary election, and lauded his "commitment to reproductive freedom."
Specter has had a disparate voting record on abortion issues over the years. In 2000, for example, he supported the NARAL-preferred position 90 percent of the time, compared to zero percent just a year later, according to Project Vote Smart, which compiles congressional voting records.
A 90 percent pro-abortion voting record isn’t good enough for them? I guess you just can’t be 90 percent a Moloch, either fully Moloch or not at all in their view.
Specter "nearly lost his primary election because he’s so pro-choice," Greenwood said of the senator’s razor-thin victory in April over conservative challenger Rep. Pat Toomey. "If Arlen Specter isn’t pro-choice, the Pope isn’t Catholic." [Article]

Looks like Judy Brown’s separated-at-birth twin is running NARAL.
All or nothing at all.
