A JOKE-CRACKING Catholic priest is still needed to take part in the Liverpool Comedy Festival.
A Methodist minister, an Anglican vicar, a rabbi and leaders from the Hindu and Sikh faiths have all already agreed to take part in the stand-up contest.
The comical clerics will be swapping their sermons for side-splitting one-liners, to star in their very own show at the festival in July.
They will begin their six-week training tomorrow .
Gillian Miller, chair of organiser the Liverpool Comedy Trust, said: “There must be someone who has them rolling in the pews every Sunday.”
* ANY Catholic priest who wants to take part should ring Gillian Miller on 0151-706 0555.

Actually, I know of two priests, one from the diocese of Lansing, and one from this diocese here [Kalamazoo], both of whom are stand-up comedians. They both have agents — they’re serious about their comedy.
“So, a Hindu and a Sikh are walking along the Ganges, and the Sikh says, ‘Who was that lady I saw you with last night?’ and the Hindu says, ‘That was no lady, that was a previous incarnation.’ Ha, ha!”
The rabbi’s got it on a plate.
That’s very flattering, Jeff, but Sean Cullen already occupies the humor niche that is most suited to me…and I’m not all that funny. Funny looking is another matter all together.
