Passionate Caf�

Not only is “The Passion of the Christ” providing a huge financial return for Mel Gibson with close to $300 million so far, it’s also providing entrepreneurs with an opportunity to capitalize on the film’s interest.

In Northern Ireland, the Passionate Caf� is opening up this week across from a Belfast theater, with owners hoping to cash in on movie-goers’ hunger for discussion, not to mention righteousness.

“We think that the Mel Gibson film will provoke as much discussion here as it has done in the United States,” backer Hugh Marcus told the Belfast Telegraph, “and that the new Passionate Caf� will be a good place for people to come when they leave the cinema, if they want to chat or think about what they have seen.”

I wonder if myrrh flavored coffee would go over very well and a spiked cup of coffee would have an entirely new meaning. They could also sell Croissants and advertise “Pick up the Croissant daily and follow me.” Or possibly donuts would go well with biblically themed coffee. After all Jesus in Mark 10 said “Donut kill, Donut commit adultery, Donut steal, Donut bear false witness, Donut defraud”, or something like that. But speaking from experience, a good cup of coffee has performed a resurrection of my senses whether it was Sunday or Monday morning. I also wonder if when God told Moses he was on Holy Grounds he might have been referring to the leftovers from a heavenly cup of coffee. God might have lit that bush to brew a pot. Of course this coffee shop must remember the maxim “Brew onto others, as you would have others brew onto you.”
