Priests in the Philippines found to have fathered a child will not be automatically defrocked but those with two will be immediately asked to leave the Catholic Church.
Those found committing homosexual acts will be sent to a rehabilitation center run by the Church, but if they repeat the offense they will be expelled at once.
The offenses and their penalties are contained in an 18-page “Pastoral Guidelines on Sexual Abuses and Misconduct by the Clergy” released by the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines on Wednesday.
The CBCP was forced to issue the protocol after two prominent bishops earlier this year figured in sex scandals.

So let me get this straight, if a priest committing the sin of sexual relations outside of marriage fails to compound this sin by also using artificial contraceptives, he could be in big trouble with the Philippines Hierarchy? I thought our Lord said “Take up your cross” not “Cover your ass!”
“be asked to leave the Catholic Church” . . . does that mean they won’t just be defrocked and ask to live as holy laymen. . . they will actually be asked to *leave* the Church? Does it mean excommunicated?
In the Philippines, the only solid evidence for priestly infidelity is the existence of children. If there isn’t, its a dangerous case of he-said, she-said. Bishop Yalung was stripped of his robes when it was found that he had signed his name as the father on a child’s baptismal certificate…the child of a woman who accused him of breaking his vows.
In light of this, the bishops say its two strikes and you’re out. It doesn’t matter if they have children or not, if they get caught twice (allowing for mercy on strike one), they’re out. The children thing is there just because its the most frequent way priests get caught.
Some priests who have not committed sexual relations, may be guilty of sexual harassment and abuse of power, when they explicitly exposed to embarrassment during sermon a female member who refuse to give in to their illicit proposals.

to avoid sex scandal in the CATHOLIC church let the priest be married… it’s their right to love someone and marry someone whom they thought they love so much… stupid policy of the church…
