To the Justice Department of John Ashcroft, John McNicholl is a lifelong criminal. He also is a Catholic, and I almost never waste my time pointing this out, but in matters with John Ashcroft, I believe that his psalm-singing, right-wing, country-road religion leaves him somewhat suspicious of Catholics, if not more.
The Irish-Americans, who come up dumb again, cheer Ashcroft. He harms their kind and they like him. The Irish even think the FBI is great.
The Justice Department people hold a hammer for Irish immigrants. Work and paying taxes doesn’t count. Irish in Texas and Florida report detaining and deporting. The immigration people deny this, which means it is true.
…That this American government of bigots from the Low IQ states can run over our Bill of Rights, grabbing somebody with no warning in the dark hours, is a terrorist act by psalm-singers. The only way to defend yourself is to vote them out. Those who don’t are fans of fascism.

Jimmy Breslin is usually self-fisking and this editorial doesn’t disappoint, besides life it too short to waste it fisking his columns.

I thought perhaps the writer was trying to be funny by executing a parody of the liberal mindset…until you told me the writer was Breslin.
Breslin is just another example of someone who views his ethnic identity as the the ultimate value. We Americans know (and have known) similar people: Jesse Jackson, Lester Maddox, Al Sharpton, David Duke, etc. The fact that he griped about the arrest of Bernadette Devlin, a known front for the terrorist IRA, just proves the point.
And this business of Ashcroft’s “psalm-singing, right-wing, country-road religion” is nothing but bigotry. It’s the equivalent of saying that blacks are incorrigibly stupid or that Latin Americans are incorrigibly lazy.
I have to say that I am suspicious of Ashcroft, as he is a Pentacostal. How can anyone who so blatantly misinterprets Sacred Scripture be trusted with such an important job? To turn the miracle of the tongues into a recreation of Babel is obscene.
As for Breslin, well, I can’t read him very often, but some of the best belly laughs I ever had were when he was a guest on Jerry Brown’s old radio show on KPFA.
I read Breslin’s article in Newsday September 13th and as a resident of Londonderry and one who knew Constable Robert McPherson, who the subject of the article, John McNicholl murdered and thought what a lying bigot. Breslin is a crabby, bigoted opinionated old man, who indulges in southern bashing idiocy [e.g. Low IQ states]. When writing on Ireland, he forgets logic and indulges in pushing the Roman Catholic Irish nonsense, whilst forgetting that McNicholl was a murderer and should not have been in the USA in the first place, as he lied on his Visa application. I am appalled to see that Breslin’s column is syndicated….what type of Editors would allow that garbage from Breslin to pollute their pages. Perhaps if Breslin respected his fellow American Republicans and dispised the Irish Republican murder gangs more then he might have a more logical argument than that put forward on this piece of garbage.
