KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police raided a home day care center and found crack cocaine — some on the floor next to a 4-month-old child — and two loaded guns. One gun was cocked and within reach of children, police said.
“You expect kids to be safe when you take them to day care,” Police Capt. Rich Lockhart said. Instead, day care was “a very dangerous situation for these kids,” he said.
Valeriece D. Ealom, 34, who ran the day care in her home, was arrested during the Wednesday afternoon raid. Police said she had sold crack cocaine to undercover police officers as she watched the children.
She was charged Thursday with conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine, as were Clifford Dorsey, 43, and Megashia C. Jackson, 27.
