John Betts is back to blogging at Just Your Average Catholic Guy and Boycott CAI.
Recently there has been a couple more bloggers in St. Blogs who have stopped blogging. Reading blogs seems to be such a more personal form of internet communication that you feel like you have lost a good friend when they stop blogging. You seem to get so much more of the sense of a person through weblogs then through your average editorial or columnist. Also thought there are more and more people blogging and this cycle of people starting and stopping will probably always continue. Maintaining a blog seems easier from the outside then actually doing it. I remember hearing talk show hosts mentioning people saying that they have such an easy job since they only have to work three hours of day. This also seems true of most bloggers, especially pundits that there is more work involved then what you read.

blogging is hard work especially if one tries to post something worthwhile daily. some days are filled with inspiration, others with compost. I try to let the compost ferment before I share it! blogging has imposed a discipline on me that I didn’t have with my email listserves, and I appreciate the ways in which it makes me grow. but I do understand why some have quit.
It is hard work and I’ve sometimes considered taking a hiatus. The hardest part for me is finding interesting pieces to comment on that haven’t already been chewed over by everyone else in St. Blog’s. You can sometimes spend several hours at the computer just to generate a handful of posts.
Thanks for the mention! One correction though: Boycott CAI remains indefinately suspended. There really hasn’t been any reason to post something further there.
Yes, blogging can be hard work at times. Mostly, I enjoy posting about great articles I come across. There are times though that I just need a break or do not have time and ‘disappear’ for awhile. Usually I will announce this… I must say though that I enjoy blogging. It gives me a chance to share with others.
