A Dutchman who ended up in court for going into a library with smelly feet has lost his appeal and had his fine more than doubled.
The 39-year-old Rotterdam man was fined �70 for repeatedly going into the university library in Delft and taking off his shoes.

Uh, shouldn’t the complaint have been taking off his shoes in a public building? After the first incident, couldn’t the library have put up a sign such as you see in some restaurants: “No shoes, no shirt, no service”? Why should the library have to become a “smell police” — thereby implying that it’s okay for some patrons to go barefoot, as long as they use their Odor Eaters?
