On the classic Sci-Fi show Lost in Space the robot on the show would spin and flail his arms crying, “Danger, Will Robinson! Danger!” If you want to build your own go here.
This reminded me of something from the past. Before I retired from the Navy I was the MTIP (Maintenance Training Improvement Program) Chief at Naval Air Station Norfolk. I was in charge of using an antiquated 1960s era mainframe with a tape reader to perform testing of Navy personnel in general and technical tasks. I had told this one civilian who was in charge of trying to keep this monstrosity running that the Navy should get rid of this junk and have the whole program converted to run on a PC instead. Little did I know that six months later I would be working as a civilian programmer on the very project to bring it to a PC.
During beta testing if the program crashed I would have it display on the screen “Danger, Will Robinson! Danger!” along with the fault. Much better than the blue screen of death and people laughed when the program crashed instead of raining insults in my direction. One day I get a call from the same civilian who had been maintaining the system and he told me that they got somebody in to take over my old job. The name of the person, why it was Will Robinson. He had been curious as to how the program knew his name when it crashed.
