“Opportunities for minorities hinge on courts ruling”
WASHINGTON Fewer blacks and Hispanics would have
access to competitive, high-paying careers if the Supreme Court overturns a
25-year-old ruling that allows affirmative action in college admissions, according
to education experts and research findings.
The experience of states where affirmative action has
been replaced by other programs shows that without it, minority attendance at
top colleges and universities drops. That, in turn, lowers the number of minorities
attending graduate schools, one of the first steps on the path to top-paying
jobs. [Full

I really dislike headlines like this. They infer that minorities can only get
good jobs if a policy is upheld by the Supreme Court. Merit and ability have
nothing to do with anything and it is only the benevolence of government policies
that allow minorities to move up. They also really don’t mean minorities either
since Asians are normally not considered in Affirmative Action policies, just
government protected minorities. In California where the Chicken Littles screamed
that Prop 209 would reduce diversity in the colleges they now have increased
representation of minorities.

Loved the Qumran psalm above, just don’t see a comment box for it.
Perhaps we could all just go back to the idea of freedom of association and it isn’t the government’s business one way or the other
