Declaring they are convinced Saddam Hussein isn�t such a
bad guy and therefore “there is no need for war,” Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen
(the Olsen Twins) led a spontaneous anti-war demonstration that ended in their
arrest outside the White House. Both Mary-Kate and Ashley are demanding that
President Bush use diplomacy to end the crisis with Iraq .
…Being entertainers, the Olsen Twins are longtime
political activists whose first protest�shortly after their birth in 1986�was
against the Reagan Administration�s support of the Nicaraguan Contras.
Predictably, the twins also opposed the use of force to remove Manuel Noriega
and won widespread respect in Hollywood when they protested the Gulf War by

This is getting harder by the day. I am not exactly certain that the possible
war with Iraq is just, but I dislike being on the same side as Hollywood
celebrities. Usually they are such a reliable pointer as to what the wrong
position is. I don’t remember any of them coming out when we were bombing the
civilian population of Serbia to get Slobodan Milosevic to step down. I also
suspect that during a Republican administration if the same situation arose as
in Nazi Germany that they would also be on the streets demanding peace. Peace is
not the absence of war but the presence of justice. I just get tired of brutal
dictators around the world being hugged and called not such a bad guy. Obviously
they haven’t seen pictures of children and adults laying on ground gassed to
death by not really bad guys
