Another story via Amy
Welborn on new age nuns. This time it is the Adrian Dominican Sisters I
did manage to find one reference to Jesus on their website in their mission
statement. I guess it is a blessing that these nuns also do not wear habits so
as not to be confused with an obedient prayerful community of Dominicans. This
is another group of nuns to pray for their return to orthodoxy.
Circle Meditation Garden
The Circle Meditation garden reminds us that we are part of the
earth, and it is a part of us. The garden teaches us about natural harmony and
the rhythms of living upon the earth. Each season in the garden is one of
beauty, from the rich, abundant meadow colors and fragrances of mid-summer, to
the spare, linear silhouettes of a Michigan winter. From the season of rebirth,
fresh with budding crocuses and damp earth, to the final blaze of autumn, the
spirit whispers in the garden. Come, sit among the splendor of the garden and
enjoy beauty-nature.
Let us reflect on the beauty of Pi
3.1415926535897932384626433832795…, where we will reflect on circular logic
and perimeter prayer. This all seems like Pi in the Sky to me.
And if you want to determine your place in Pi mysticism then enter your
birthdate at this site to find at what place in Pi your birthday is
at.
Treescape
The
Treescape is a simple space, yet one of great dignity. The room draws you into
the beauty of Weber Center’s surroundings, looking directly into the treetops
and the Circle Meditation garden beyond. Meditation tools such as the bible and
singing bowl are available in the room to enhance your reflection. If you seek
inner peace and beauty, look to Treescape to help you find solitude, silence and
serenity.
I tried using Treescape 6.0 for a time but it was really
slow (progress was shown in tree rings and updated once a year) and pages were
not rendered correctly so I went back to using Internet Explorer.
The Outdoor
Labyrinth
“Blessed are those who have set their heart on pilgrimage.”
(Psalm 85) A labyrinth is a sacred, circular pattern symbolic of our life
journey. As a tool for spiritual centeredness, it is a pilgrimage, a journey to
the divine. The Weber Center labyrinth is a replica of the labyrinth inlaid in
the floor of Chartres Cathedral in France in the thirteenth century. The path is
more than 1,000 feet long, approximately 60 feet in diameter and constructed of
enduring stone. The labyrinth offers a quiet retreat from the hurry-up pace of
daily activities. With a peaceful meadow as a backdrop, the labyrinth is open to
all, any day of the year, for quiet presence and meditation.
Why are labyrinths so prevalent in all of these new age
communities? Is is symbolic for the twisted confusing path they follow? Is it a
type of gnosticism where you need to know the secret information to get out of
the labyrinth? Or is just based on a misprinted hymnal that contained “Mazing
Grace”?
As gifted dwellers on our planet Recognizing the
sacredness of earth and the fragility of its ecosystems, we commit ourselves to
the healing of our planet by fostering right relationships and by confronting
the destruction of life systems.
Well at least they are pro-life
systems.
