I have finished reading James
Akin‘s book “The Salvation Controversy”, excellent reading. It does much to
explain the terms Protestants and Catholics use in relation to salvation. Many
arguments happen because of deferent emphasis and understanding of terms so that
we end up talking past each other instead of seeing what we substantially agree
on. Not only is this a good apologetics source, but it is also an excellent
explanation of salvation, justification, and sanctification and the three tenses
of each. For a book that covers so much information it is wonderfully succinct.
As a bonus, at the end there is a chapter of the joint decree between Catholics
and Lutherans.
