Amy
Welborn posted a story about Sophia’s Portico,
which was started by and run by three Franciscan sisters, and the decimation of
women’s religious orders. It is of no surprise that their site is hosted by
gayfortwayne.com. I found the following disinformation on their site.
Our (lack of) Vision
Statement:
SOPHIA’S PORTICO offers a haven to explore opportunities
for growth in feminine spirituality.
Inclusive of creeds, cultures, genders and races,
SOPHIA’S PORTICO seeks to nuture spiritual growth in an atmosphere of
peace,
freedom, dignity, and justice.
All seeking personal empowerment, supportive community,
and emergent paradigms are welcome to participate in ritual and formative
experiences.
Absolutely amazing, succeeded in using all the wacko buzz words in one
paragraph, haven, inclusive, atmosphere, empowerment, emergent paradigms,
formative experiences. I especially enjoyed “Inclusive of creeds” to which I
hereby nominate as oxymoron of the year. Inclusive (including many things or
everything) and the strange juxtaposition with creed (a specific set of
religious beliefs) is of the highest form of religious mumbo jumbo. I also
noticed the total lack of the word truth; I guess hard edges and
noncontradictory beliefs are anathema to them.
I also noticed that they didn’t have a Mission Statement, so I freely offer
them one to use;
Mission Statement
spiritual life.
I pray that St. Clare of Assisi
intercedes for them to return to truth and orthodoxy especially on this the eve
of the Solemnity of St. Francis of Assisi.
