Switzerland, alarmed by growing numbers of “suicide
tourists”, plans to make it harder for foreigners to kill themselves, officials
said yesterday.
Fifty-five foreigners were among the 110 people that
Dignitas, the only Swiss voluntary euthanasia society that will assist
outsiders, has helped to die since it was founded four years ago.
The Swiss probably don’t like the idea of this since people who commit
suicide are notoriously bad tippers, they don’t do much shopping and only buy
one way tickets.
We need to pray for those who are suffering from depression and/or pain and
that the message of redemptive suffering is known to all. Also for those who out
of a false compassion assist these souls in suicide. The word compassion means
suffer-with and you no longer suffer with someone when they have
died.
